Journey of Hope Botswana and Continental Outdoor Media create breast cancer awareness - July 2013 Billboard

Johannesburg, 4 July 2013

Continental Outdoor Media in collaboration with the Journey of Hope Botswana (JOHB) erected outdoor billboards to in Nata, Maun, Mahalapye and Francistown as the first part of the JOHB National Awareness Campaign for breast cancer. The campaign is targeted to Setswana speaking women over the age of 40, and hence three of the sites are near bus ranks. The Gaborone outdoor billboard outlines the route for the 2013 JOHB Big Journey which takes the breast cancer awareness campaign around Botswana.

The Journey of Hope Botswana is a not for profit organization comprising a group of volunteers, who aim to promote breast cancer awareness. They support and attend public health events; facilitate fundraising and awareness events; teach the importance and techniques of self-examination; produce and distribute information pamphlets; present a national media awareness campaign and host the annual Big Journey. JOHB have a fleet of fourteen pink bikes and scooters, and will have at least twelve bikes on the road for the entire Big Journey.

“We are so thankful to Susannah Steenkamp and Continental Outdoor Media. We had the budget for two outdoor billboards and from their generosity we now have five,” said Beverly Denbury, Chairperon of JOHB.
